Hello Scholars and Warriors!
This summer has been wild! We all know that first you want to hear about my new fiancé before anything else. Kati is an amazing companion who enjoys many of the same nerdy things I do such as Stargate, Godzilla, and Board Games. She is good at fixing things and is in an auto mechanic training program. She has also done her fair share of writing, photography, and art. We enjoy a goofy sense of humor together and loved our year of dating before I popped the question. Kati is a follower of Jesus and loves watching Him work.
I’ve also had 2 writing projects come out. I contributed three entries to Finding God in Anime Vol. 3 and I completed my first solo book: Dead False Gods: An Unauthorized Christian Reflection on Stargate SG-1.
Finding God in Anime Vol. 3 is a devotional anthology compiled by Moriah Jane and Laura A. Grace featuring around 60 anime references in short devotionals. My entries connect with Godzilla: Singular Point, Rerouni Kenshin, and One Piece. Nathan Marchand, my co-author for the 42 series, has two entries; one that focuses on Science Ninja Team Gatchaman and another on Gamera: -Rebirth-. There are many other anime represented including Fruits Basket, My Hero Academia, The Boy and the Heron, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and Sakamoto Days. There are a lot of “slice of life” anime referenced in the book. This book is available on Amazon and will be with me at my table when I travel to events.
My first solo book is a Stargate themed devotional! Dead False Gods recognizes the Goa’uld as warnings about our foolish attitudes and attempts to make ourselves gods but also sees the example set by the heroes of traits like faith (Daniel Jackson), Repentance (Teal’c) and Leadership (General Hammond). I sold my first copy of this at Fan Expo Chicago. This book has been a passion project for me. I once read a similar book on Star Wars years ago and felt SG-1 had enough material to have its own Christian Reflection. This is also available on Amazon and again will be at my table when I have author signings and tables at cons.
